Why Are Facials Important?

When it comes to skincare, it’s common knowledge that cleansing and moisturizing are non-negotiable and required parts of any daily routine. Outside of those two staples, there are tons of additional products and steps you can add to your regimen to take it to the next level (some of which may be overkill). However,  certain elements of a proper skincare routine, such as getting regular facials, are often perceived as “extras” that can be skipped—and they shouldn’t be! While there are specific types of facials that fall into the “luxury” category, facials, in general, are not strictly luxury services reserved for special occasions. The basics of a facial - a deep cleansing, exfoliation, massage, mask, and skin-specific product application - do as much to take care of your skin’s health as regular dental cleanings do for your teeth.

 Why Are Facials Important?

Your skin is more than just skin. It’s the largest organ of your body and is constantly exposed, receiving daily battering from dirt, oil, pollutants, and the elements. For this reason alone, you should consider giving it a little bit of extra care - after all, your skin is working hard every day. However, providing your skin with a bit of pampering isn’t the only reason to get regular facials. Daily cleansing, toning, and moisturizing will keep your skin in good condition on a day-to-day basis. Regular facials provide both short and long-term benefits not only for the health and appearance of your skin but for your overall wellbeing as well.

Some of the benefits facials provide include:

  • Deep cleansing and exfoliation to remove dry skin, oils, dirt, and pollutants that regular cleansing may not get.
  • Increased collagen production which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Lymphatic drainage which helps your body remove toxins and boost circulation.
  • Much needed relaxation for both your mind and body.

Some of these benefits, such as lymphatic drainage and relaxation, can positively impact your overall physical and mental health, not just your skin’s health.

How Often Should I Have A Facial?

While you may be able to get through your daily skincare routine in just a few minutes, a proper facial takes a bit longer, usually anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. With that in mind, it’s unlikely and unnecessary to undertake facials as often as your regular routine. Ideally, you should strive for one facial per month to provide your skin with the ongoing care and attention it needs and to address and combat any areas of concern: breakouts, dark spots, signs of aging, etc.

If this is not feasible, at a minimum, you should aim for one facial per season. This will help your skin prepare for and acclimate to changes in weather and remove residues from products more suited to previous seasons (for example, sunscreens in the summer or thick moisturizers in the winter).

With that said, getting regular facials can be challenging to fit into your schedule, especially during these odd COVID times and our “new normal.” The Beauty Cloud boxes allow you to indulge in a facial from the comfort of your own home as often as you’d like. You can even sign up for a membership to have our specially formulated seasonal boxes delivered straight to your door.
